New Delhi: In a midnight drama, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained by police as his protesters attempted to prevent him from being taken away.
Kumar, who is also an MP from the Karimnagar constituency, was picked up by a police team late Tuesday night from his residence in Karimnagar.
After the detention, the BJP MP tweeted accusing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of political vendetta by “arresting” him for questioning the ruling party “on its wrong doings.”

He also shared videos of tussles between police personnel and his supporters.
The police action came a day after Kumar demanded that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reveal his post-graduate degree certificates, and a few days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.
Kumar has been shifted to Bommalaramaram police station in Hyderabad.
Following the detention, BJP workers gathered outside the police station in swaths, demanding his immediate release, and also raised slogans against Telangana Chief Minister.
