Jaipur, Sep 5 (PTI) A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a family acquaintance in Jaipur, and the accused was arrested from Jaisalmer’s Ramdevra after fleeing following the registration of an FIR, police said on Saturday.
The accused was produced before a court on Friday and sent to judicial custody, they said.
The minor’s grandmother filed a complaint, and the accused, a young man, was familiar to the child.
According to the police, the incident happened approximately 15 days ago, when the accused allegedly assaulted the child after finding her alone. The child did not disclose it to anyone because the accused had threatened to kill her if she did.
Three days ago, the accused arrived at the house on the pretext of meeting the family. At the time, the child was playing with her grandmother, and upon seeing him, the girl remarked, “Uncle is bad.” Suspecting the child may have disclosed something, the accused questioned her about why she said so. The grandmother did not pursue the matter, dismissing it as a child’s innocent remark, police said.
After the accused left, the girl narrated the entire incident to her family, revealing what the accused had done to her. Angered upon learning the truth, the family approached the police.
On learning about the police complaint, the accused fled his home. A police team, acting under provisions of the POCSO Act, tracked him down and arrested him from Ramdevra in Jaisalmer district. PTI AG SMV MPL MPL
