New Delhi, Jul 22 (PTI) The Delhi Congress on Friday welcomed Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena’s decision to recommend a CBI probe into the Delhi government’s Excise Policy, 2021-22, as it accused the Aam Aadmi Party dispensation of being “knee-deep in corruption”.

The Congress’ Delhi Unit president Anil Kumar alleged that there has been a lot of corruption following the implementation of the new liquor policy and said his party has been raising this issue for a long time.

The Delhi Congress had given a written complaint to Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana in June seeking a probe into the “corruption”, but no action was taken, he alleged.

“The truth cannot be hidden and the truth is that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi is knee-deep in corruption,” Kumar said.

“The LG, in his recommendation for a CBI probe into the new excise policy, has stated that minister Satyendar Jain, who is in jail for the past two months in a money-laundering case, was the frontman for Arvind Kejriwal’s corrupt deals. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot will be the next to go to jail,” he claimed.

Sisodia heads the Excise department of the Delhi government.

The Delhi Congress president also alleged that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was “using” these ministers as his “fund collectors”. He claimed the “real culprit behind the liquor deal will be nabbed soon”.

“Kejriwal has admitted that after Satyendar Jain, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will be the next to be targeted by the enforcement authorities. The CBI probe should unravel whether the new liquor policy in Delhi had any connection with the Punjab Assembly elections,” he said.

On June 3, a delegation of the Delhi Congress had approached the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch demanding an investigation against Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia over the alleged liquor scam.

“Implementation of the revised liquor policy has violated all norms and regulations,” Kumar alleged. PTI ABU VA NSD
