Akola, Jul 18 (PTI) Eight people were injured in a clash between two groups in Maharashtra’s Akola district, a police official said on Friday.
Akola police station senior inspector Gajanan Padghan said knives and swords were used in the clash, while two live rounds and one empty cartridge were found from the spot, though it is not clear if anyone sustained injuries caused by firearms.
“The incident took place on Thursday in Krishi Nagar area. Initial information suggests the clash took place between the Akash Gavai and Santosh Wankhede groups over money collection for ‘kanwar yatra’. The two groups are old rivals,” he said.
“All angles are being probed. The injured have been hospitalised. The process of registering cases is currently underway,” Padghan said. PTI COR CLS BNM
