New Delhi: The process for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) moved along Saturday as the registration window for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced opened. The last date for registration is 17 September and the exam will be held on 27 September.
According to an official notification from IIT Delhi, the organising institute for JEE Advanced, the top 2,50,000 candidates who have qualified JEE Main will be eligible to sit for the exam.
On Friday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced results for JEE Main along with the qualifying cut-off for JEE Advanced.
To apply for the exam, a student should have scored 90.3765335 percentile in the common rank list, 70.2435518 in EWS, 72.8887969 in OBC, 50.1760245 in SC, and 39.0696101 in ST lists.
The other eligibility criterion to appear for the exam is qualifying Class 12 exam in physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year, the additional criterion of scoring minimum 75 per cent marks in Class 12 has been done away with. Any student who has qualified Class 12 in the given subject disciplines will be eligible to apply.

Results on 5 October
JEE Advanced consists of two papers of three hours each, with questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics. Aggregate of marks in both question papers and individual subject marks will be taken into account to prepare a rank list.
Once the candidate appears for JEE Advanced, admission to IITs will be made on the basis of the rank list.
“Results will be declared on Monday, October 05. Category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of successful candidates will be available through the JEE (Advanced) 2020 online portal after the results are declared. Text messages will also be sent to the candidates to their registered mobile numbers,” the IIT Delhi said in its information brochure.
“Qualifying in JEE Advanced 2020, filling up choices and/or participating in the joint seat allocation process do not guarantee a candidate to get admission in IITs. Admission will depend on the availability of seats during various rounds of seat allocation,” it added.
According to 2019 seat distribution figures by Joint Seat Allocation Authority, over 11,000 seats were offered by 23 IITs across the country.
