Jaipur, June 16 (PTI) Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Tuesday emphasised the pivotal role of education in nation-building, saying that it forms the foundation of knowledge and is key to making India a leading nation globally.
Addressing an education summit at a private university, the governor stressed the need to develop children’s intellectual capabilities in specialised fields, noting that Indian talent is in high demand across the world.
He called for collective efforts to build a developed India by drawing inspiration from the country’s rich ancient knowledge traditions.
Highlighting the importance of value-based education, Bagde said that educational institutions must focus on instilling morality, tolerance and cultural values among students.
According to an official statement, he said that education can truly accelerate development, and meaningful dialogue leads to better understanding in society.
The governor also referred to India’s historical contributions to global knowledge, stating that when many parts of the world did not have universities, India had as many as 19 centres of higher learning.
