Bengaluru, Jun 24 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday searched multiple locations in Karnataka, including the premises of Y Manjunath, the brother-in-law of Karnataka PWD minister Satish Jarkiholi, as part of a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged corruption in the state excise department, officials said.

Manjunath is an additional commissioner rank officer in the excise department.

About 18 premises in the Belagavi, Bengaluru and Mysuru districts were raided along with a security escort from the CRPF, the officials said.

The locations searched included a deputy commissioner rank officer and some other department staffers, they said.

The ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) taking cognisance of a Lokayukta Police FIR, they said.

Manjunath is the son of former Bellari MP Y Devendrappa. His wife is the sister of Satish Jarkiholi and BJP MLAs Ramesh and Balchandra Jarkiholi. PTI NES GMS KVK KVK
