New Delhi, Oct 17 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday apprehended film producer Amardeep Singh Grewal from the Delhi airport and questioned him in an alleged bribery and extortion case linked to a rape case in Punjab, officials said.

Grewal was intercepted at the airport on the basis of a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him by the central agency. It was not clear if he was departing or arriving.

He was earlier summoned by the ED and he had sought adjournment and requested for a fresh date, the officials said.

They added that the statement of Grewal was recorded during the day and he has been asked to join the probe again next week.

Grewal is a known film personality and is associated with the East Sunshine Production. The producer or his legal team were not immediately available for a comment on his apprehension by the ED.

Officials said he was involved with various Punjabi films, including ‘Maujaan Hi Maujaan’ (2023) and ‘Snowman’ (2022), and overseas production and release linkages. PTI NES NB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
