New Delhi: Addressing first-time voters on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dismissed the Opposition as “anti-youth dynasts” while underscoring the purposefulness a full-majority government could give to a country.

Addressing the NaMo Nav Matadata Sammelan, Modi Thursday attacked the Opposition, particularly the Congress, saying their pariwarvadi or dynastic politics had stopped India from progressing.

“It is a disease that is stopping the youth from progressing because you can never rise to fame in a dynastic party. The leader’s of such parties are, therefore, anti-youth. Remove them with your votes,” the PM told his young audience.

Making his pitch for the upcoming general elections, Modi added that today’s youth understood the “challenges” before them, and that is why they were “anti-corruption and anti-dynasty”.

Modi’s speech included elements of his oft-repeated campaign pitch that a majority government — as is the case with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance for the last 10 years — would strengthen decision-making.

“When there is a majority government in the country, there is clarity in policies and decisions. When I meet major world leaders, it is not I alone who meets them but 140 crore Indians are with me. Today, the Indian passport is seen with pride across the world,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that people talked today about “credibility” and not “corruption”, of “success stories” and not “scams” — apparently targeting the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) governments.

“Earlier, India was on the list of fragile five economies. But today, Bharat is the fifth-largest economy in the world. In the coming years, India will become one of the top-three economies in the world,” Modi said.

He added when Bharat was fragile, other countries thought it would take them down with it. “But today, they think that India’s success will fuel theirs.”

On Thursday, the BJP also launched a new video campaign for the upcoming general elections, headlining it “Modi ko chunte hain”.
