Noida, Jun 18 (PTI) A dumper allegedly emptied much of its load of red gravel and stone chips on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Greater Noida on Thursday, with police bringing in a JCB machine to clear the route, an official said.
The incident took place under Dadri police station limits, with a purported video of the act going viral on social media.
In the clip, possibly recorded by a commuter on the expressway, the dumper driver is seen driving on the wrong side of the road before raising the vehicle’s hydraulic lift and spilling stones onto the expressway.
Police said the dumper had dumped the gravel on the stretch from Palwal in Haryana towards Dadri-Sikandrabad, creating an obstruction for commuters.
After receiving information, Dadri police and traffic personnel reached the spot and removed the gravel with the help of a JCB machine and manually to prevent any mishap.
“An unidentified dumper truck spilled a large quantity of red gravel and stone chips on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway,” police said.
A case has been registered against the unidentified driver under relevant sections and efforts are underway to identify him, police added. PTI COR KIS ARB ARB
