New Delhi, Oct 21 (PTI) The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has been selected for three Awards of Excellence in Urban Transport by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Transport Minister Pankaj Singh announced on Wednesday.

The awards are for ‘City with the Best Public Transport System’, ‘Excellence in Innovation and Smart Mobility Solutions’ and ‘Best Use of Big Data Analytics for Operations and Evidence-Based Transport Planning’.

The DTC is being honoured for undertaking initiatives in digital mobility, including the integration of Electronic Ticketing Machines, Automatic Fare Collection Systems, and distributing 20 lakh Pink Saheli NCMC cards, among others.

They will be presented during the valedictory session of the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Exhibition 2026 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on October 24.

Officials said the ‘City with the Best Public Transport System’ award recognises the DTC’s Integrated Smart Bus Management System, which strengthens the monitoring, management and accountability of bus operations.

The ‘Best Use of Big Data Analytics for Operations and Evidence-Based Transport Planning’ award honours DTC for implementing the DEVI bus route.

“These recognitions are an encouragement to further strengthen Delhi’s public transport system. Our focus is on using technology and data to make bus services more efficient, accountable and accessible, while ensuring better last-mile connectivity for residents,” Singh said.

He further said that more than 20 lakh Pink Saheli NCMC Cards have been issued, marking a significant milestone in inclusive, technology-enabled public transport and the transition from paper-based ticketing to digital mobility solutions.

The Pink Saheli cards are mandatory for women to travel for free in DTC buses in the national capital. PTI SSM KSI

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
