Driver killed, 18 passengers injured after bus rams into truck in MP’s Shajapur

Shajapur (MP), Jun 6 (PTI) The driver of a private bus was killed and 18 passengers were injured after the vehicle rammed into a truck from behind in Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur district early on Saturday, police said.

The accident occurred around 2 am near an eatery on National Highway-52 under Sunera police station limits, about 15 km from the district headquarters, they said.

The bus was on its way to Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh from Indore in MP when it collided with a truck moving ahead of it, Sunera police station house officer Ankit Mukati said.

Bus driver Manohar Singh (40), a resident of Ashok Nagar district in Madhya Pradesh, died on the spot, he said.

Eighteen passengers, including two pregnant women, sustained injuries in the accident, he said.

Police personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and shifted the injured to the district hospital in Shajapur for treatment.

A case was registered and investigation into the incident is underway, Mukati said. PTI COR LAL NP
