Gurugram, Jun 6 (PTI) A truck driver was burnt alive in a horrific accident on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway Saturday morning after his truck collided with another one parked on the road and caught fire, police said.

The incident took place around 5 am on Saturday when a driver of the truck — Deepu, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao — coming from Bilaspur lost control of his vehicle and rammed into another one parked on the expressway roadside.

Following the collision, Deepu was trapped in the truck’s cabin and could not escape due to the intense flames. He was burnt alive, they added.

Fire brigade and police teams arrived at the scene and, after significant effort, fire brigade personnel managed to control the fire in both trucks, but the driver had already died by then. The fire was so severe that Deepu burned to a skeleton, police said.

“We sent the body to the mortuary for postmortem and the family of the deceased has been informed,” a senior police officer said, adding that an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway. PTI SHS SHS
