New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has selected 144 organizations and 32 individuals, including industry giants, innovative startups, and leading academic institutions for the initial phase of the Sangam Initiative, a PIB press release stated.

The Sangam initiative was launched on February 15, 2024, with the goal of revolutionizing the way infrastructure is planned and designed by using digital twin technology. The initiative aims to create precise and dynamic models of physical environments using telecommunications, computational technologies, sensing, and imaging to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of infrastructure projects.

The selected participants have a wealth of technological expertise in areas such as unified data platforms, advanced AI modelling, immersive AR/VR applications, and sophisticated scenario planning. The use cases identified in the expression of interest (EoI) are diverse and reflect the various aspects of infrastructure planning and design.

The initiative will continue to engage with stakeholders to ensure that the evolving list of use cases addresses real-world needs effectively. In response to the overwhelming interest in the EoI, the DoT has extended the deadline for submitting proposals to June 25, 2024. The project is already in progress, and the selected participants are encouraged to submit their proposals promptly to participate in the ongoing and upcoming initiatives.

The DoT plans to organize networking events as part of the Sangam initiative to facilitate knowledge sharing, promote partnership formation, and explore and articulate use cases. The Sangam initiative is expected to create innovative solutions that will help improve the efficiency and accuracy of infrastructure planning and design by enabling real-time insights and predictive analytics.

The project is open to individuals and organizations of all sizes and industries, and the selected participants have a range of technological expertise and capabilities related to infrastructure planning and design.
