DoT flags 6.80 lakh mobile connections for re-verification

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has flagged approximately 6.80 lakh mobile connections that were likely obtained using fake or invalid documents.
This has resulted in the issuance of a directive to the TSPs to re-verify the documents within 60 days. Failure to comply may result in the disconnection of the concerned mobile numbers, a PIB press release stated.
The DoT has directed all TSPs to re-verify the flagged connections within 60 days. Failure to complete re-verification will result in the disconnection of the concerned mobile numbers. The DoT has assured the public that it will take all necessary steps to protect the integrity of mobile connections and safeguard the security of digital transactions.
