New Delhi: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) will conduct the 21st Livestock Census from September to December 2024.
The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying will organize a pivotal workshop in New Delhi on 25 June to equip the state and union territory officers with the necessary tools for conducting the census.
Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh will be the chief guest of the workshop. Other attendees will include the ministers of state for fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying S.P. Singh Baghel and George Kurian and Secretary, DAHD Alka Upadhyaya.
The workshop will commence with an inaugural ceremony and a detailed session on the census methodology. This will be followed by training on the use of the mobile application and software dashboard. The event will also provide an opportunity for participants to express their queries and concerns.
The Livestock Census has been conducted every five years since its inception in 1919. This exercise is conducted in a door-to-door manner and includes detailed data on domesticated animals and birds across the nation.
The 21st Livestock Census, which is scheduled for September to December 2024, will make use of mobile technology for data collection and transmission, which will improve the accuracy and efficiency of the process in all villages and urban wards in the country.
