New Delhi, Apr 16 (PTI) Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood attributed systemic improvements across institutions as government schools recorded a pass percentage of 97.23 in the CBSE Class 10 examinations this year, surpassing the national average.

Sood said the improvement reflects broad-based changes in the education system, adding that the gains were visible across schools rather than being limited to a few institutions.

The pass percentage rose by 2.59 points from 94.64 per cent last year, exceeding the national average of 93.70 per cent.

Highlighting the initiatives to support students, the minister said the government has allocated funds to provide free bicycles to around 1.3 lakh girl students in Class 9 to improve access to education.

He said that an inquiry into further improvements and expansion of facilities is ongoing, with the government reiterating its focus on strengthening the education system.

The number of schools achieving 100 per cent results increased to 457 this year from 300 last year, while those recording over 90 per cent results rose to 924 from 529, according to a statement.

A total of 1,88,460 students appeared for the examination, of whom 1,83,246 cleared it. Among them, 26 students scored 95 per cent and above, 540 students secured between 90 and 95 per cent, and 5,202 scored between 80 and 90 per cent, it stated.

Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 97.37, compared to 97.09 among boys, it stated.

The statement added that infrastructure upgrades, including the establishment of smart classrooms, computer labs and digitised libraries, have contributed to improving learning outcomes. PTI SHB APL
