New Delhi, Oct 18 (PTI) The CRPF on Sunday said it has praised its Judo-trained woman officer who exhibited “extreme patience” while allegedly subjected to assault by “anti-social elements” during the recent protests in Delhi.

G P Singh, director general of the paramilitary force, further said “lawful action is being taken by jurisdictional police in the matter”.

Referring to the alleged assault on an on-duty woman CRPF officer during a recent “public order deployment” in Delhi, Singh wrote on his personal X handle, “Force leadership has complimented the CRPF personnel involved for showing extreme patience, perseverance and resilience despite being a top judo practitioner and part of CRPF Judo team.”

“We remain committed to peace and order in the country,” Singh said.

Protests were held in Delhi on October 10 by the Cockroach Janta Party demanding resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral discrepancies. This was followed by a ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march by the outfit at Connaught Place on October 16.

Hundreds of companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were deployed to check these protests. PTI NES ARB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
