New Delhi, May 27 (PTI) The Delhi Traffic Police has started upgrading Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards across key intersections and major road corridors in the national capital to provide commuters with real-time traffic updates and travel advisories, officials said on Wednesday.
At least 42 out of the total 92 VMS boards installed across the city have been integrated with the upgraded system so far, they said.
The enhanced VMS network will display live information related to traffic congestion, diversions, accidents, weather alerts, road closures and special traffic arrangements, helping commuters plan their journeys more efficiently and opt for alternate routes when required.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening smart traffic management and improving commuter convenience by reducing delays and easing congestion on busy roads.
The upgraded infrastructure is also expected to improve road safety, streamline vehicular movement and reduce fuel consumption and emissions by minimising traffic bottlenecks and idle travel time. PTI SSJ APL NB NB
