New Delhi, Apr 15 (PTI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), along with other urban local bodies in the city, have been asked by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to identify and document railway stations, schools, and colleges in Delhi that are over 100 years old, officials said on Wednesday.

Senior officials from the urban local bodies will be responsible for identifying these institutions as part of an initiative to create a comprehensive record of long-standing public buildings that are still in use, they added.

Among the sites likely to be covered are the 1903 Old Delhi Railway Station, the Anglo-Arabic Senior Secondary School complex at Ajmeri Gate, and the 1916 Tibbia College in Karol Bagh, all of which are still operational.

“Delhi has a vast number of railway stations and educational institutions which have served the city for over a century. This exercise will help in identifying these places and maintaining an updated record,” an official noted.

The civic bodies are expected to compile a consolidated database of these institutions, documenting details such as the name of the building, its age, ownership status, and present condition, officials added.

Assistance from the ASI will be provided during this process, and further details regarding the timeline and scope of the exercise are awaited. PTI VBH VBH SMV MPL MPL MPL
