New Delhi, Apr 19 (PTI) Describing the tragic fire accident in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar as “deeply distressing”, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday offered condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in the incident.
At least 23 people were charred to death, and six others sustained grievous injuries following a massive explosion at a private firecracker manufacturing unit near Virudhunagar, local police said on Sunday.
Singh in a post on X, said, “The tragic fire accident in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar is deeply distressing.” “My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this unfortunate incident. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured and strength to all those affected in this hour of grief,” he said.
According to police and fire rescue officials, four of the six injured are in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at the Virudhunagar Government Medical College Hospital.
