Gurugram, Oct 17 (PTI) The severely decomposed body of an unidentified man was found near the railway tracks close to Basai Dhankot railway station here, officials said on Saturday.

According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the man, believed to be in his mid-40s, is suspected to have died around 10 days ago. His feet had been eaten away by insects.

A forensic team inspected the scene and launched an investigation.

Police recovered the keys to a motorcycle and a flat from the deceased’s pockets, along with a small steel tumbler near the body. They are checking the surrounding areas for any unclaimed motorcycle to establish his identity.

“The body has been kept in a mortuary for identification and post-mortem. The cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is received, based on which further legal action will be taken,” investigating officer Babulal said. PTI COR RHL

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
