New Delhi, Oct 21 (PTI) The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will start its tethered hot air balloon rides from November 14, officials said on Wednesday.

The rides were launched last November from Baanseera park in the Sarai Kale Khan area.

“We plan to start the rides from November 14 for the public, the weather is ideal for the launch of the rides and it will be in the same format like last year,” a private organiser said.

Ticket prices are likely to be less than last year to attract more customers, he added.

The organisers set the ticket price at around Rs 2,300 per person last time. Still the response to the rides remained low, and they were organised only on weekends.

“We plan to set up an online ticketing system soon for the rides to increase awareness and convenience for the people wanting to get on the rides,” the organiser added.

DDA, last year, finalised the Yamuna Sports Complex, the Commonwealth Games sports complexes, and Asita and Baansera, two of the sites along the Yamuna Bank, for balloon rides.

Expansion plans, beyond Baanseera, are on hold.

A trip normally lasts between 7 and 12 minutes, with four people in the balloon.

The peak season for balloon rides in north India, spanning November to February, offers ideal weather conditions. PTI SSM VN

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
