New Delhi, Sep 10 (PTI) The Delhi Development Authority on Thursday held its second and third stakeholder consultations on implementation of the Master Plan for Delhi 2047, with discussions focusing on inter-departmental coordination, transport-oriented development, industrial areas, infrastructure and heritage conservation.
The consultations were held in line with Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s directions to ensure that MPD 2047 translates into tangible benefits for the people of Delhi, the DDA said.
During the meetings, the DDA provided an overview of major provisions of MPD 2047, followed by detailed discussions on their implementation and coordination between departments. Stakeholders also raised queries and shared their views, suggestions and feedback to bring greater clarity to the provisions.
Separately, Delhi Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said a meeting was held at the Delhi Secretariat with officials from the DDA and Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) on the Master Plan and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Policy.
The discussions focused on developing areas around public transport such as metro and rapid rail in a manner that improves connectivity, makes last-mile transport easier and provides convenient access to everyday needs, Sirsa said in a post on X.
The meeting also discussed redevelopment of non-conforming industrial areas and preparing better infrastructure for markets and warehouses so that businesses have the necessary facilities and Delhi’s development progresses in an organised manner, he said.
The stakeholder consultations are part of a wider three-month outreach programme of the DDA to explain various provisions of MPD 2047 and seek feedback for its coordinated and effective implementation.
Around 20 such meetings are planned during the three-month period, involving diverse stakeholder groups, including government agencies and service providers, industry bodies, architects and planners, resident and group housing representatives, farmers and landowners, market and trade associations, conservation bodies, transport agencies and representatives from the education and healthcare sectors, it said.
The thematic consultations will cover a wide range of issues under MPD 2047, including land pooling, redevelopment of group housing, low-density areas, the Yamuna and blue-green zones, heritage conservation, mixed-use and commercial areas, in-situ slum redevelopment, decongestion, and development of education and medical hubs, the authority mentioned.
The second consultation was attended by representatives of various government departments, agencies and service-providing bodies, including the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), Delhi Police and Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).
Representatives of Delhi government departments, including the Public Works Department (PWD), Power Department, Land and Building Department, Fire Department, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and Forest Department, also participated in the meeting.
Representatives of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), also attended the consultation.
The third stakeholder meeting was held with conservation bodies, architects working in heritage conservation and other stakeholders, including Delhi Tourism, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), INTACH, Department of Archaeology, Indraprastha Virasat Punarvikas Nigam (IVPN), MCD, Delhi Urban Arts Commission (DUAC), Delhi Fire Service and the Ministry of Culture.
