Amethi (UP), Apr 16 (PTI) One person was killed and five others injured after a truck collided with an SUV here, police said on Thursday.

The accident occurred on the Lucknow-Varanasi highway when a passenger-laden Bolero was entering the highway near Musafirkhana town on Wednesday afternoon. A speeding truck coming from the Sultanpur side hit the vehicle, leaving five occupants injured, they said.

During the collision, a cyclist, identified as Jagnarayan Yadav (around 60), a resident of Rampur Lokraipur, came under the impact and died on the spot, they added.

Of the five injured, two are stated to be in serious condition and were referred from the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Musafirkhana to the district hospital in Gauriganj, while the remaining three are undergoing treatment at the CHC, the police said.

Musafirkhana SHO Vivek Singh said the body has been sent for post-mortem, and legal proceedings are underway.

Both the truck and the Bolero veered off the road after the collision, ensuring that traffic on the highway was not disrupted, the police added. PTI COR KIS SMV SMV HIG HIG
