Jamshedpur, Jul 23 (PTI) A three-day national conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Mineral Beneficiation Technologies’ (EMBT-2025) was inaugurated at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) premises here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, CSIR-NML director Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury highlighted the pivotal role of mineral beneficiation in improving ore quality and enhancing industrial productivity while ensuring environmental sustainability.
Chowdhury emphasised that emerging technologies in mineral processing, automation, and eco-friendly practices offer transformative potential for the sector.
Appreciating CSIR-NML’s contribution and achievements, the event’s chief guest and CMD of Hindustan Copper Limited, Sanjiv Kumar Singh, highlighted the importance of beneficiation in India’s journey towards self-reliance in the mineral sector and environmental stewardship.
He further emphasised Hindustan Copper’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, citing ongoing initiatives in digitisation, cleaner processing technologies and increased downstream integration to enhance copper output and reduce environmental impact.
EMBT-2025 chairman and head of NML’s mineral processing division, Devabrata Mishra, outlined the conference’s focus on recent advancements in the sustainable utilisation of ferrous, non-ferrous, industrial, and strategic minerals.
Mishra noted that EMBT-2025 serves as a vital platform for collaboration among researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers, aiming to promote energy-efficient, zero-waste technologies in mineral beneficiation.
The conference brought together experts from academia, industry, and research to explore innovative solutions for the future of India’s mineral sector.
RK Rath, senior principal scientist of NML and convener of EMBT-2025, said the conference has drawn around 150 delegates and speakers from 22 leading organisations and academic institutions across India.
The three-day event features 66 technical paper presentations across nine parallel sessions.
