COVID-19: Maharashtra reports 25 new cases; no death

Mumbai, Jun 24 (PTI) Maharashtra recorded 25 new coronavirus positive cases on Tuesday, taking the overall infection count in the state since January this year to 2,395, the health department said.

Of the new cases, eight were reported in Mumbai, five in Nagpur city, three in Chandrapur in eastern Maharashtra, two in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city, one each in Pune city and its rural parts, Thane city, Bhiwandi (in Thane district), Navi Mumbai, Kolhapur and Akola cities, the statement said.

Mumbai has reported the highest number of 965 cases, including 524 in June alone.

Nobody succumbed to the COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, keeping the fatality count in the state unchanged at 33.

Of the total number of 33 patients who succumbed to the infection, 32 had comorbidities (pre-existing health conditions that can increase the risk of severe illness), the statement said.

The state has conducted 26,736 COVID-19 tests across the state since January 1, adding that 2,106 patients have recovered till date. PTI SM NP
