Jaipur, Aug 27 (PTI) A woman died around 23 hours after her husband passed away in Rajasthan’s Sikar district, with police saying she fell ill after learning about his death.
The incident occurred in Balaji Nagar (Jantala) in the Neem Ka Thana area, police said on Thursday.
According to police, Pushkar Saini (50) had suddenly fallen ill around five days ago and was undergoing treatment at Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Hospital. His condition deteriorated late Tuesday night and he died. His last rites were performed the next day. Saini’s wife, Kaushalya Devi (47), was reportedly in deep shock after learning about her husband’s death. After her husband’s last rites on Wednesday, her health suddenly deteriorated, following which family members rushed her to the government hospital in Neem Ka Thana.
She died during treatment at around 2 am on Thursday, about 23 hours after her husband, police said. Her last rites were performed at around 11 am on Thursday.
Villagers said the couple had been married for around 30 years and had three sons. Their eldest son, Lakhan Saini, works on a contractual basis at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, while their other two sons, Vijay and Ravi, are pursuing their studies.
Pushkar Saini worked as a tailor and had kept his shop closed for the past six months, they said.
Several establishments remained closed following the incident, while residents visited the bereaved family to offer their condolences. PTI AG NB NB
