Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government kicked off a two-day ‘chintan shivir” or ideation camp Friday with a talk by Niti Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, who underscored the developmental initiatives taken over the past 10 years under the NDA rule, and spoke about the vision for the future.

Held at the Indian Institute of Management in Raipur, the camp was attended by ministers, including Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, senior government officials and other decision-makers.

The first session was dedicated to the main theme of the camp — “Viksit Chhattisgarh: A vision for 10 years” — where Subrahmanyam talked about how Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised “scale, speed, and innovation” to achieve the target of a developed India.

He said the world now focuses on the global south, and that perspective has shifted from the west towards the east. India is fully capable of fulfilling the role the world is expecting it to assume, he said, adding that, “Our country is ready to leapfrog in this direction as India’s demography, strategic position and solid reforms, in all important fields, are the advantages that will facilitate India.”

He said India has led from the front in digital economy, tax reforms and supporting innovation, and needed to keep the momentum going in the future.

“We must promote green energy to counter the problem of climate change so that sustainable development becomes the permanent outcome,” Subrahmanyam said, adding that Chhattisgarh had all the potential to contribute to this idea and be a prime mover.
