Dharamshala, Aug 9 (PTI) Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Sunday said that with the release of Rs 60.26 crore by the central government, construction for the long-pending Phina Singh Multipurpose Irrigation Project in Kangra district would be accelerated.
Speaking at a function in Dharamshala, Agnihotri said the Rs 643-crore project has remained stalled for a long time, with the state government already spending around Rs 300 crore from its own resources. With fresh central funding the project would be completed soon, he said.
Highlighting Kangra’s development potential, Agnihotri said the state’s largest airport was being developed in the district and would give a major boost to tourism in the region. “A zoo and the state’s largest milk processing plant are also being established in Kangra,” he added.
On government job recruitment and associated exams, Agnihotri stressed the need for transparency, saying paper leaks were a matter of serious concern across the country. The future of hardworking youth should not be compromised, he said.
He further announced that the government would soon issue a notification for a Rs 1,000 increase in the honorarium of ASHA workers, saying it has already been approved by the cabinet. PTI COR SKY SKY
