Patna, Aug 11 (PTI) A Class 10 girl student went missing after leaving her school in the state capital Patna, a police officer said on Tuesday.

The girl’s school dress and bag were found near the railway tracks, the officer said.

The girl, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Khagaul area of Patna, was seen on Monday with her friend after the school was over in CCTV footage, he said.

“We received information that the school uniform and bag of a girl were found here on the railway track. Enraged locals had blocked traffic, which was cleared by the police. As the spot is on the railway track, we are taking the assistance of the railway police force as well to trace the girl,” Danapur SDPO-1 Ajeet Kumar told reporters.

Police are examining phone numbers and call detail records and checking for any suspicious or outside numbers as part of the investigation, Kumar said.

A dog squad was also deployed at the spot, he said.

“We are investigating the case from all angles,” the SDPO said. PTI SUK RG

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
