Beed, Apr 26 (PTI) An eight-year-old girl died and more than a dozen passengers suffered injuries after a private tempo traveller overturned in Maharashtra’s Beed district in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.
The accident occurred around 5.30 am near Khadkat in Karjat tehsil on the Jamkhed-Mirajgaon road, close to the Sina river bridge. The vehicle occupants were going from Pune to Beed for a religious programme, police said.
Citing preliminary information, police said the driver lost control of the vehicle after dozing off.
As the tempo traveller overturned, Pune resident Yashashree Vijay Sonawane (8) was thrown out of the window, leading to her death on the spot, an official said.
He said that 12-15 members of her relatives suffered minor injuries. They were provided medical assistance, the official added. PTI COR NR
