Korba, Sep 5 (PTI) Nearly 24 hours after all seven units of a National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) power plant in Chhattisgarh’s Korba city tripped following an electrical fault, three generating units were revived on Saturday, officials said.
The NTPC Korba plant has an installed capacity of around 2,600 MW, comprising four units of 500 MW each and three units of 200 MW each.
All seven units had tripped shortly after 6 pm on Friday following an electrical fault at the public sector undertaking plant in the Darri area, an NTPC official said.
“At 6 pm on Saturday, three generating units at NTPC Korba — two units of 500 MW each and one unit of 200 MW — were successfully revived following yesterday’s blackout,” NTPC’s public relations officer Ushma Ghosh said.
One 500-MW unit has been undergoing an overhaul since August 25, she said.
“Restoration of the remaining three generating units is currently underway in a sequential manner, in accordance with established safety and operational procedures,” Ghosh said.
