Bengaluru, Jul 10 (PTI) Union Minister for Communication Jyotiraditya M Scindia on Thursday said the Centre is working on strategies to ensure that Indian Telecom Industries Limited (ITI) becomes more financially sound.

The ministry is committed to making ITI Limited a sustainable enterprise, he added.

“ITI is an institution that has contributed tremendously to the telecom revolution in our country. The adaptation and technological advancements ITI has made—from manufacturing rotary and push-button dial phones to producing core telecom equipment, radio access networks, routers, and PCB boards—have been remarkable,” the minister told reporters after visiting the public sector unit, ITI Limited here.

He also held a meeting with the company’s officials, sources said.

Scindia said he looks forward to ITI playing an even more fundamental role in the telecom technology landscape as the sector undergoes rapid transformation.

When asked whether the ministry is supporting ITI in modernising its technology and manufacturing capabilities, Scindia said, “Yes. I believe the management of ITI must take on that responsibility.” “The ministry’s responsibility is to ensure that the organisation is sustainable. At this point in time, we are working on multiple strategies to make ITI more financially sound. I am very confident that a whole-of-government approach will help achieve that,” he added.
