New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) says it has seized Rs 2.62 crore in cash, besides property-related papers, during searches conducted Friday at the offices of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and residential premises of its executive director Maisnam Riten Kumar Singh.
The NHIDCL is a PSU under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
According to the CBI, it also seized during searches in Guwahati, Ghaziabad and Imphal documents pertaining to investments made in Singh’s name and those made in the names of his family members. These included nine apartment units, an office space and three residential plots in Delhi-NCR, besides an apartment and residential plot in Bengaluru.
Documents pertaining to four apartments and two residential plots in Guwahati were also seized, besides those relating to two homestead plots and an agricultural land parcel in Imphal West. Further, the CBI seized six high-end vehicles, two luxury watches and 100 grams in silver bars during the searches.
“Most of the properties purchased in the name of the accused public servant and his family members seem to be undervalued, which are under verification,” it said in a statement.
