Chaibasa (Jharkhand), Jul 23 (PTI) The CBI has arrested the sub-postmaster of a sub-post office in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant, officials said on Wednesday.
The CBI on July 21 registered a case against the accused sub-postmaster of Manoharpur sub-post office following a complaint alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 1,18,000 (20 per cent of RD commission plus 75 per cent of SAS commission) from the complainant, a statement by the agency said on Tuesday.
Following negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 20,000 as the first instalment, the statement said.
CBI officials laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the money. The matter is under investigation, the statement added. PTI BS MNB
