Nagpur, Jul 25 (PTI) Police have registered a case against an X (formerly Twitter) user for posting a fake message about protesters surrounding the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Mahal area here.

No arrest has been made in the case.

The account @VeezPunit claimed in a viral post that thousands of students had surrounded the RSS headquarters during the protests over the NEET paper leak issue, said a police official, adding that it also contained objectionable remarks about the organisation.

No such protest had taken place, the official said.

As the post was misleading and could have created panic, a case was registered under the relevant BNS sections and further probe was on, the official said. PTI COR KRK
