Jagtial (Telangana), Apr 20 (PTI) Alleging that the Congress government in Telangana has failed to fulfil its poll promises, BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday asserted that his party would return to power in the next Assembly elections.
Addressing a rally, he said that people were happy during the previous regime, but at present, no section of society is satisfied with the policies of the current government.
According to him, the Congress made several promises, but failed to fulfill them and the BRS was defeated by a margin of just 1.7 per cent votes in 2023 Assembly polls.
“It is 100 per cent sure that BRS will come back to power… Why has the state government’s income dropped? Real estate activity has declined. There are struggles to access water. Farmers are suffering, and weavers are facing hardship due to lack of orders. No section of the public is happy with the present government. Apart from hollow promises, there is no work on the ground,” he said, attacking the Revanth Reddy-led government.
KCR further alleged that the state is in such a financial mess that the government is unable to pay emoluments to retired employees, including their savings.
He also claimed that due to free bus travel for women, autorickshaw drivers are suffering due to lack of passengers.
Narrating the previous regime’s achievements, the former chief minister said his government had solved power sector issues and increased the installed capacity of plants to ensure uninterrupted power supply to people.
“We gave 24 hours free power. We had set up several power plants before Congress took over. Now agricultural fields are drying up at several places. Why are people suffering now? I sincerely requested not to vote for Congress. But some people did not listen,” he said.
Alleging that some leaders wanted him to die, KCR said, “he would not die even if they were reborn a thousand times”.
The BRS leader claimed that before Telangana was carved out, it was plagued with problems. The mere mention of the word Telangana was banned even in the Assembly in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. There were mass migrations due to poverty.
Asserting that BRS will come back to power, he said the first signature would be to abolish the HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency).
Stating that BRS is not opposed to the Musi rejuvenation project, KCR said in its name, the government is harassing poor people and turning it into a real estate project.
Meanwhile, former minister Jeevan Reddy, who resigned from Congress, formally joined BRS. KCR invited him into the party by offering a pink scarf. PTI GDK KH
