Hyderabad, Oct 10 (PTI) BRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Saturday accused the Congress government in Telangana of irregularities in the Rs 3,296-crore Radial Road-2 project’s tender process and demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged scam.

In an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao alleged disqualification of bidders who reportedly quoted lower prices, and the award of packages at prices allegedly higher than the estimates.

“Rs 3,296-crore Radial Road-2 tender scam; KTR demands answers from Revanth Reddy,” the open letter said.

He said the government should disclose all tender documents and explain the decisions taken in the selection of contractors.

The project involves the construction of an 81.15-km greenfield expressway from the Outer Ring Road at Budvel here to NH-167N near Kodangal in Vikarabad district. The project was divided into three packages, it said.

Rama Rao asked whether the tender process was conducted transparently and whether technical eligibility criteria were applied uniformly to all bidders.

He further alleged that technical grounds were used to exclude certain companies while contracts were awarded to preferred firms.

The BRS leader, among others, demanded that the project tenders should be cancelled and a comprehensive inquiry should be into the alleged irregularities.

There was no immediate reaction from the Congress government to the allegations. PTI SJR SJR ADB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
