Parbhani (Maharashtra), Apr 21 (PTI) An NGO has organised a traditional baby shower for two HIV-positive pregnant women in Maharashtra’s Parbhani city, celebrating motherhood with dignity and compassion in a socially significant initiative.

The event, held last week, aimed at dispelling myths surrounding HIV. It emphasised that with proper medical care, children born to HIV-positive mothers can be healthy and HIV-negative, an NGO representative said on Monday.

Both women had married through the efforts of the Homoeopathic Academy of Research and Charities (HARC). During the ceremony, they were presented with gifts and essential daily-use items.

A highlight of the programme was a play titled ‘Kali Umalatana’, staged by a cultural group. The performance conveyed messages of women’s health, motherhood, humanity, inclusion, and social awareness, the representative said. PTI COR GK
