Hyderabad, May 19 (PTI) An 8-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Warangal town in Telangana on Friday.
The victim was surrounded and attacked by the dogs when he had gone to attend nature’s call at the Kazipet railway station this morning, BRS MLA D Vinay Bhaskar told reporters here.
The incident occurred when the boy’s parents, who hail from UP, were away at a shop.
According to police, the boy was bitten on the neck by the canines causing serious injuries.
Though the boy was rushed to a hospital he succumbed to injuries, they said.
Vinay Bhaskar visited the boy’s parents and assured that the administration would extend necessary help to them.
Noting that stray dogs in the town were being sterilised, he termed the incident as ‘painful’.
Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudha Rani said a new centre for birth control among dogs, in addition to the one already existing, is being set up.
