New Delhi: The Delhi Police and security agencies are probing the low intensity explosion that took place at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Public School in Rohini’s Sector 14, New Delhi, Sunday morning. The blast took place near the wall of the school, according to sources, damaging the wall and nearby vehicles. However, no casualties have been reported.

Sources told ThePrint that prima facie it appears the blast was caused by a crude bomb.

“Initial probe suggests that a crude bomb was issued,” a senior Delhi Police officer said.

The visuals from the site showed the surrounding area of the school covered in smoke, and the windows of the nearby houses shattered.

According to the Delhi Police, a PCR call was received in which the caller informed that a blast with a lot of noise took place near the Rohini CRPF school at 7.47 am. The forensic teams and officers of the Delhi Police special cell reached the spot and the accused are yet to be identified.

“Local police reached at the spot, where the school wall was found damaged with a foul smell. The glass of nearby shops and cars parked near the shop were found to be damaged. No one was injured. Crime spot was cordoned,” the Police said, adding that apart from crime, teams of forensic science laboratory, bomb detection, National Security Guard (NSG), National Investigation Agency, CRPF, National Disaster Response Force and fire brigade visited the spot. “FSL and NSG teams conducted the inspection of spot and lifted samples.”

The Delhi Police has registered an FIR under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, and Explosives Act. The case will soon be transferred to the special cell. For now, the area has been cordoned off and is being mapped.

Moreover, the Police are scanning CCTV footage in the area to identify who planted the bomb. According to sources, police are not ruling out a conspiracy angle.

A latest video showed the NSG team leaving the site after inspection.
