New Delhi: The Wayanad Youth Congress Committee held black flag protest at the Kerala forest minister’s convoy on Tuesday, which arrived to visit the families of deceased persons affected by the Tusker attack.

The black flag was raised by the activists of the Wayanad Youth Congress Committee when they saw the convoy of ministers on their way to visit the families of the victims of the Tusker attacks.

Four ministers including AK Saseendran, Revenue Minister K Rajan, Schedule Tribe Minister K Radhakrishnan and Local Self-Government Minister MB Rajesh were part of the convoy. After visiting the families, the ministers had a high-level meeting in the forest department.

In light of recent events, the community’s resilience is being tested, especially after the devastating landslides that struck the region. Many residents are reflecting on the importance of heeding warnings and relocating to safer areas, as highlighted in the Wayanad landslides—those who heeded warnings and relocated are among the few who survived.

According to the reports, the Kerala governor had also visited the families of the victims on Monday and interacted with the residents. He had also assured the protection of the residents against the wild elephant attacks.

It is reported that after the visit of the governor, the residents of Wayanad sent a letter to the governor demanding protection from the wild animals. The Wayanad Youth Congress Committee also held a massive demonstration on Tuesday in Wayanad to protest against the government’s alleged failure to take action on the issue.

After the incident, the Kerala government announced Rs 10 lakh compensation and also assured a job to one of the family members of the deceased.
