Dehradun, Apr 17 (PTI) Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan termed the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Act’s defeat in Parliament on Friday a “black day” for women.

In a video message, Bhushan stated that the 131st Constitution Amendment Bill, essential for implementing the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023, was a missed opportunity.

“Today is a black day for all of us sisters. We are all very sad and troubled,” the speaker said in Hindi.

She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the bill strongly in the Lok Sabha and explained to MPs why its introduction was necessary.

“Today was the time to create history, but we missed that opportunity,” Bhushan said. PTI DPT AKY VN VN
