Lucknow, Sep 6 (PTI) BJP national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Vinod Tawde on Sunday asked party functionaries to focus their efforts on seats it had lost in previous elections and assigned them the responsibility of strengthening every worker and booth ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, party sources said.

Tawde and BJP co-in-charge Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel, who were appointed to their posts on August 18, arrived in Lucknow on Saturday for their first visit to the state after taking charge.

On Sunday, Tawde and Patel met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence here and discussed preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections, sources said. Tawde also visited the RSS office in Lucknow.

The BJP leaders held a meeting with state unit president and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, state general secretaries, regional presidents and general secretaries, regional in-charges and state in-charges of various frontal organisations.

Tawde asked party functionaries to remain active in their respective areas and maintain regular contact with workers. He also stressed preparing lists of old party workers and giving them due importance.

He said the BJP was certain to form the government in Uttar Pradesh for a third consecutive term but needed to work with full strength and strategy on every front.

Tawde also called for greater public outreach on government welfare schemes and urged party workers to coordinate with allies of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and respond to the opposition’s allegations and rumours with facts.

He particularly stressed strengthening the party’s position on seats it had lost in previous elections.

Chaudhary said every party functionary and worker was prepared for the 2027 Assembly elections and claimed that the BJP-led alliance would perform better than its 2017 record.

Tawde also held discussions with two former state BJP presidents during his two-day visit and returned on Sunday, sources said. PTI AR CDN MNK MNK MNK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
