Selvam shifted his allegiance to the Congress a few months ago.
Former Speaker of the Puducherry Assembly V P Sivakolundhu emerged victorious in the Lawspet Assembly seat, defeating his immediate Congress rival and incumbent legislator M Vaithianathan.
Former Tourism Minister of Puducherry Malladi Krishna Rao defeated Congress candidate Gollapalli Srinivas Ashok in Yanam and regained the Yanam constituency.
B Ravikumar of AINRC defeated Puducherry State DMK secretary R Siva in the Villianoor Assembly segment by a margin of 1,970 votes.
Siva had sought to retain the seat but was defeated by the AINRC nominee.
The AIADMK Puducherry unit Secrertary A Anbalagan wrested Uppalam constituency from the DMK.
Anbalagan was holding Uppalam in all the polls held in 2001, 2006, 2011 abd 2016, However he was defeated in the poll held in 2021 by the DMK candidate Annibal Kennedy.
