Lucknow, Apr 20 (PTI) The BJP will hold a ‘Janakrosh Mahila Padyatra’ in Lucknow on Tuesday to protest against the stand of opposition parties on the proposed amendment to the women’s reservation law, a party statement said.

The padyatra will begin from the chief minister’s residence and conclude in front of the Vidhan Bhavan, the statement said on Monday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, along with leaders of NDA allies including Ashish Patel, Om Prakash Rajbhar, Sanjay Nishad and Anil Kumar are expected to participate in the march.

According to the statement, the padyatra is being organised in support of “women’s dignity, rights and political participation”, and is likely to see participation from a large number of women associated with social organisations, NGOs and various sectors.

Organisers said the march is not only a protest but also a symbol of commitment towards ensuring greater rights and representation for women.

Preparations are being made on a large scale to ensure the success of the programme, the statement added. PTI KIS PRK
