Shimla, May 22 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh BJP on Friday submitted a complaint to the State Election Commissioner alleging that the Congress government in the state is making attempts to influence the ongoing election process by taking decisions in the Cabinet meeting when the model code of conduct (MCC) is in force.
The elections to 3754 gram panchayats in Himachal Pradesh would be held in three phases on May 26, 28 and 30. The government neither issued a statement in regard to the Cabinet meeting nor briefed the media.
Elections for Panchayati Raj Institutions, Zila Parishads, BDCs, and Pradhan are currently underway in Himachal Pradesh and the MCC is in force throughout the state. Despite this, the Himachal Pradesh government held a Cabinet meeting on Friday in which several decisions were taken that appear to directly impact the electoral process and voters, the complaint said.
The complaint submitted by state media convener Karan Nanda said that the government has made decisions such as announcements aimed at appealing to women, the creation of new posts, and the approval of new SDM offices and other offices. PTI BPL — MNK MNK
