Mumbai, Jul 21 (PTI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane on Monday withdrew his petitions filed in the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the FIRs registered against him in 2021 over his remarks against the then-Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Rane’s advocate Aniket Nikam informed a bench headed by Justice Ravindra Ghuge that the police have already filed a ‘C Summary’ report (case is neither true nor false) in the case filed in the adjoining Raigad district.
Additional public prosecutor J P Yagnik informed the court that a similar report would also be filed in the case lodged at Pune.
The bench took note of the same and allowed the Lok Sabha MP from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg to withdraw the petitions.
The former Union minister had sparked off a row with his remarks that he would have given “a tight slap” when Thackeray allegedly missed the year of India’s Independence during his speech. PTI SP RSY
