Chennai, Apr 20 (PTI) A BJP functionary on Monday criticised the DMK government for not implementing the NEP and its three language formula.
“The DMK government has deliberately refused to implement the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and its three-language formula. Instead, it has stubbornly imposed a two-language policy (Tamil and English only), giving English undue priority while completely denying students the opportunity to learn their desired language — especially their mother tongue,” A N S Prasad, a BJP functionary, said in a statement.
Insisting that Stalin should have taken governance lessons from Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, he said, “the visionary leader, who allows every Indian mother tongue as the third language, setting a national example for all students”.
Claiming that for several centuries, lakhs of people whose mother tongues are Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and other languages have been living peacefully in Tamil Nadu, he said that “they have deeply embraced Tamil, learnt it with great love, taught it to others, and have always regarded Tamil Nadu as their motherland with utmost respect and affection”.
